The Warmest Argument

In the spirit of the season, I'd like to say a few words about advertising.

Most of it is crap done by crappy people that don't care about you or the product they sell. At its core, advertising is an argument being made to you on behalf of a product. "This is why you should buy this thing." It's often an argument mad with dirty tactics. They appeal to your brain, your heart, your funny bone... even you unmentionables.

But from time to time, an argument is made in good faith. These ads don't confuse you, they help you understand. Even if you don't' buy what they are selling, you respect people who do. And you have respect for the company that makes the product. Not because they make great things, but because they have respected you first.

I was waiting for the kid to ask the sales guy what is was going to take to have one of those and have the guy say, "Paying attention in class, leraning eveything you can about the world, know who makes this car and how much work and effort it takes to have the income to afford one out right (not on shoddy. misleading financing and inflated ego)." Then a shot back to the kid in the class paying attention to the teacher, shrugging off the taunts of others and working hard.

That, to me, would be a commercial with some integrity.

It was long.
And it's just a car.
But then, I'm most advertisers worst nightmare.

I once dated a guy who was really into Porsches, so I CAN'T like the commercial. But I get what you're saying.

It was a good commercial. Much better than the majority of the crap that is out there. But I am with Dixie on a second look of the kid in school re-applying himself would have been excellent.

I am now going to save all my savings on getting a car like that or just like that. If I did then I wouldn't be uncool  I would be supercool. Right? I love this add it brings me back to my youth when I saw fast cars in New Mexico driving on a moutain. That was awesome. This car is awesome. I must be rambling. The end.
