I remember the day I realized that all the Miss America contestants were younger than me.  And then the day when all of the professional athletes my age had all retired and then how I would probably never be able to do a cartwheel.  It is hard to give up your hopes and dreams.

On the other hand...

life only gets more fun once you lower your expectations.

Yep, I round 40 later this month.  The 30's were good to me.  Have a great birthday!

For some reason, what makes me feel the oldest is going to the doctor and him/her being younger than me, it's weird!

I think that the 30's will be great for you....I know that's easy for me to say as I sit at a nice 24 but I still think it won't be that bad.

you still have all your hair....and you do triathalons....so that makes you cooler than most soon to be 30's

I in no way under appreciate the value of the perfect shoe compliment to the wardrobe.  Congratulations.

As for turning 30...there are many more pluses to getting older than there are minuses.  I can almost guarantee you'll someday look back on your twenties with great fondness, but happy to not have to relive them.

I've wanted to comment but only feel your pain and can think of nothing encouraging to say. If I hear one more person in their early 20's tell me what they're going to do by the time they're 30, I'm just going to freak out!!!  Its cool to be pissed.

And somehow it will all be OK.
